What is MSG & why should I avoid it?
MSG is short for Monosodium Glutamate, a very old food additive still used today as a spice or “flavor enhancer.” But ask yourself; have you ever tasted anything and said “Wow, I really love that MSG flavor!” Neither have I! IT’S NOT NATURAL! And it’s not healthy for you. Neuroscientists have concluded that it is an excitotoxin meaning it overexcites cells to the point of damage or cell death.

Where is this MSG you speak of?
In short, EVERYWHERE! Oh, except most other developed countries in Europe. Since MOST TOXIC FOOD INGREDIENTS ARE BANNED IN OTHER COUNTRIES. So lets demand the same food quality as the rest of the world! I remember my dad always asking the Chinese fast food places if they used MSG. They always shrugged a confident “No, no, no,” but who knows really? Sometimes their pre packaged egg rolls or soups will have MSG. Always ask, as fast food and anything with a strong overpowering unnatural flavor are suspect, and always look out for side effects. You have to use your holistic intuition / spider sense to pick out foods or “food products” with MSG. The moral of the story is READ YOUR INGREDIENT LISTS & Stay Health Conscious.

There are many different potential side effects but the one I have noticed most notably is extreme fatigue to the point of not being able to keep my eyes open.

It may seem a little overwhelming when you realize just how many of your favorite food products contain MSG but you will feel better and help your family stay healthy as a result. Buying products without MSG will also help you support the companies doing things right and not support the companies that are poisoning people. It took me a while to recover when I realized I was filling myself with MSG after every one of my favorite orange colored tortilla chip but with all types of organic non GMO tortilla chips and other healthy snack alternatives, I think I’ll be ok. So stick to whole foods with one to a few ingredients and read your ingredient lists. Remember, be Food Conscious.
